wherejacwanders.com – When we were recently invited to Bandara International Hotel, Jakarta I wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew ‘bandara’ meant airport so I had visions of a small hotel tacked onto the back of an airport terminal. However, I love trying new hotels and so went along for a few days of rest before our European summer trip.
I couldn’t have been more surprised when we arrived at the wonderful Bandara International Hotel managed by AccorHotels. It was an oasis just outside Jakarta. The grounds looked like they’d been lifted straight out of Bali and dropped conveniently on the road to the airport. A perfect place to spend a night before an early morning flight, a few days recuperating after a trip or just as we did, as a great place to relax, get your fix of greenery and escape the craziness that Jakarta can be. Two nights in a suite here eating yummy food, swimming, walking lakeside and sleeping was enough to leave us feeling refreshed and revitalised.
The hotel is located on the road into the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, and its design centres around a huge lake giving it a feeling of spaciousness and sheltering it from the nearby roads. The highlight for me was the huge pool fringed by palm trees, lounge chairs and bars. After a late afternoon swim and cocktail, we moved to the restaurant for dinner then back out to the upstairs bar to enjoy the view over the water and the pretty night lights. The next morning we spent time walking around the lush grounds chatting alongside the lake before taking up our poolside lounges again.
Definitely a great way to start a holiday or to ease your way back into big city life.
