www.wherejacwanders.com – It’s no secret I love street food in Indonesia. Most weekends Bowie and I head out for Bubur Ayam. This is Indonesian style chicken porridge served with shredded chicken, soybeans, krupuk crackers, sweet soy sauce and of course spicy hot sambal. Yum.
When you buy it takeaway it is inevitably packed in polystyrene, with plastic cutlery and all the individual components in small plastic bags. After my recent pledge to stop using so much plastic I took my favourite tiffin tin down and a container for the crackers. Easy. Sustainable. Street Food.
So next time you plan a takeaway street food meal in Jakarta why not take your own containers.
And yes, it tasted just as good ten minutes later at home!
