wherejacwanders.com – Dinner in a castle. We had dinner at Gasthof Schloss Aigen in Salzburg, Austria, on the recommendation of a close local friend. She told us the food is delicious and very traditional Austrian cuisine. We’d been keen to try some local cuisine.
That day we’d been up a mountain, on cable cars and trams, down the river on a boat, and to art galleries. It was late. If we went back to our hotel to get changed we’d be too late for dinner. It was one of those times when you knew you were horribly under dressed for a place. We just decided to go anyway, heads up high and not concerned about what others thought. Self confidence is a lovely thing to develop.
We had just what our friend recommended: classisch tafelspitz (super tender beef), potato salad, soup with cheese balls and wiener schnitzel. All served with horseradish and apple sauce. Washed down with an Austrian beer.
We walked out past the gowns and suits in our hoodies and runners, full bellies and with big smiles.
